The International Conference on the 100th Anniversary of the Discovery of "Ordos Tooth" kicked off in Uxin Banner of Ordos city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Aug 14.

The conference is scheduled to last three days from Aug 14 to 16.

Around 170 experts and scholars from China and abroad have been invited to attend.

Shini, head of Uxin Banner, said the conference features five discussions on various themes, including Salawusu and Chinese paleoanthropology, the origin and evolution of the "Ordos Tooth" and East Asian Homo sapiens, as well as the technology, culture, and survival patterns of Eurasian Paleolithic humans.

Over 30 experts will give speeches, with the ultimate goal of achieving research consensus and producing a series of theoretical achievements.

The conference is expected to further enhance the international influence and popularity of the "Ordos Tooth" culture, and promote the archaeological research of the Salawusu site to a new level.

The "Ordos Tooth" people inhabited the Salawusu site from 50,000 to 100,000 years ago during the Paleolithic era, effectively bridging the gap between Peking Man and Upper Cave Man.

These ancient people mastered mature hunting techniques, proficiently used fire, shared cooked food, possessed highly advanced stone tool crafting skills, and nurtured their own distinct culture, composing a glorious chapter in the annals of human history.
