Young people from Taiwan and the Chinese mainland competed in esports recently as part of the 11th Straits Youth Day in Fuzhou, Fujian province. The event was intended to boost understanding and exchanges.

Eight teams from both sides, with members coming from major universities, competed face to face from Tuesday to Thursday. It was the first time the event had been held offline in the last three years because of COVID-19. The competition was also livestreamed.

The understanding of esports is changing among members of the public from mere games to significant sports events, which require a spirit of hard work and unity. The event was intended to increase cultural exchanges, starting from a topic shared and welcomed among youth on both sides.

In addition to competing, participants toured Fuzhou.

The event was organized by the Jin'an district of Fuzhou and Fuzhou e-Sports Association.
