The Fujian-Taiwan Young Talent Study Camp took place in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province, on Aug 5 as part of the 11th Straits Youth Day event.

The seven-day camp aimed to foster exchanges between young talent from across the Strait and attract more outstanding Taiwan youngsters to Fuzhou, with multiple activities held for the students to explore local cultural sites, learn about study and employment conditions on the Chinese mainland, and visit key local enterprises.

Forty young people, including students from key universities in Taiwan and mainland students studying in Taiwan, participated in the camp and explored Fuzhou to gain a deeper understanding of the city and seek employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

The participants said that Fuzhou's rich historical and cultural heritage left a deep impression on them. "The names I used to see in geography and history textbooks now shine before my eyes," said Chen Pingxuan, Ph.D. in biomedical informatics from National Taiwan University, who was visiting the mainland for the first time. "I believe that there will be a lot of employment opportunities and policy support for entrepreneurship here."

They also visited the Fuzhou Planning Hall to learn about the city's future development and industrial direction, with a focus on the digital economy and scientific and technological innovation.

Chen Chen from National Chengchi University in Taiwan, who hopes to start his own business, said the camp taught him about the development and prospects of Fuzhou, and has strengthened his determination to start a business in the city." I believe that in the near future, I will realize my life dream in Fuzhou," he said.

The camp participants also visited the Fuzhou Talent Apartment to learn about the city's living environment. They were impressed by the design and convenience of the apartments and had the opportunity to ask questions and talk with each other.

Organizers said during the camp that talent stations will be set up to publicize Fuzhou's talent policies and the preferential policies for Taiwan youth looking to come to the city for employment and entrepreneurship. They will also provide career evaluation and job matching services for participants.
