Jinan strives to promote growth of cultural sector

Jinan, the capital of East China's Shandong province, has witnessed its cultural industry's rapid development in recent years. With strong policy support, the city has been able to promote the high-quality growth of its cultural sector, local media reported.

The city's government has implemented various policies and measures to stimulate the development of the cultural industry. These policies include the establishment of stores for cultural and creative products, as well as the provision of subsidies for night-time cultural and tourism consumption clusters.

As a result of these policies, Jinan has seen significant growth in its cultural enterprises, with 531 large-scale cultural companies generating a total revenue of 107.9 billion yuan ($15 billion) in 2022, a year-on-year growth rate of 24.6 percent.

Jinan has also focused on developing cultural industry parks and demonstration bases. It has created a platform for integrating content production, platform services, marketing, and communication. It has renovated old industrial buildings to house various industries such as art creation, creative design, film production, advertising planning, and entertainment.

Additionally, several new cultural and tourism projects, including the art exhibition and the construction of cultural and tourism parks, have further enhanced the clustering effect of cultural enterprises.

Digital technology has played a significant role in driving innovation in the city's cultural industry. Jinan has actively encouraged integrating traditional culture with digital technology, strengthening its information infrastructure and promoting digital services and marketing.

The city has attracted more than 20 digital film and television companies, including iQiyi, and has supported the development of the digital printing industry. Innovative business models for digital content payment, such as videos, music, and literature, have been introduced to enhance cultural consumption.

Looking ahead, officials said, Jinan aims to continue meeting the increasing cultural needs of its people and strives to make its cultural industry its fifth pillar industry, contributing to its overall economic growth and prosperity.
