Tongcun town, a marginal mountain town in Kaihua county, Quzhou, Zhejiang province, has in recent years accelerated the promotion of people-centered new urbanization development through industrial agglomeration.
In recent years, with the iterative upgrading of the melamine industry – its leading industry– Tongcun has optimized its industrial layout, strengthened infrastructure construction, and enhanced its industrial support and population absorption capacity.
As early as 2017, Tongcun town utilized idle land on its west side to build the first phase of the melamine industrial park. Since 2020, the industrial park has introduced cosmetic packaging production enterprises such as Zhejiang Wanchen Packaging Technology Co Ltd to extend the melamine industrial chain.
The industrial agglomeration not only provides rural residents with jobs, but also unleashes the industrial vitality of the town, said Xu Zhu'an, Party chief of Tongcun town.
So far, the output value of the melamine industry in the town has exceeded 450 million yuan ($62.54 million), and more than 1,600 local people have been employed.
"I've been working here for over a year now, and both work and life are very convenient, and the income is considerable," said Lin Zhen, an employee at Wanchen Technology.
Lin, 38, is from Huangshi village in Tongcun town. Last year, after working far away for many years, he returned to his hometown and started working at Wanchen Technology.
Lin added that the town now boasts many job opportunities, and it only takes five minutes to drive to work, allowing him to take better care of his children.
