URUMQI -- The summer grain output in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region surpassed 7.01 million tonnes this year, marking a rise of 460,000 tonnes from 2022, according to a press conference held by the region on Friday.
The region's increase in summer grain output ranks first in the country.
In 2023, the region's summer crop area increased by 792,000 mu (52,800 hectares) over the previous year, reaching over 18.16 million mu.
The region had built 50.03 million mu of high-standard farmland by the end of 2022, accounting for 47.39 percent of its arable land.
