China's leading dairy company Yili Group is to participate in constructing China's dairy industry innovation and carbon reduction leading project, with a launch ceremony held on Aug 4 – during the World Dairy Industry Conference.
The project includes two centers, namely the Dairy Intellectual Property Operation Center and the National Carbon Measurement Center (Inner Mongolia) Dairy Sub-center.
The Dairy Intellectual Property Operation Center will focus on the most cutting-edge scientific issues in the development of the dairy industry, accelerate innovation, accelerate breakthroughs in the core technology of China's dairy industry, and solve industry bottlenecks.
The National Carbon Measurement Center (Inner Mongolia) Dairy Sub-center will scientifically and accurately measure carbon emissions to achieve measurable, reportable, and verifiable ones.
As a leading enterprise in China's dairy industry, Yili has permanently attached great importance to the use, protection, and management of intellectual property rights, leading the innovation and development of the industry.
As of December 2022, Yili has secured 3,905 patents from both domestic and foreign sources. They currently rank second among the top 10 dairy companies worldwide in terms of total global patent and invention applications.
Yili has carried out comprehensive carbon inventory within the enterprise for 13 consecutive years and built the industry's most complete carbon inventory database. The carbon peak was achieved in 2012, and it is planned to achieve carbon neutrality in the entire industrial chain by 2050.
