A signing ceremony for the graphic processing units (GPU) project of Changsha Jingjia Microelectronics Co Ltd was recently held in the Wuxi National Hi-tech District. The project is expected to yield an output value exceeding 5 billion yuan ($695.94 billion).
Zhou Wendong, vice-mayor of Wuxi, said Jingjia Micro holds a leading position in GPU design, and its new project in the city will further bolster Wuxi's efforts in building a high-tech hub for the integrated circuit industry.
Integrated circuits represent Wuxi's most competitive and promising industry, noted Zhou. He added that the Wuxi National Hi-tech District currently accommodates nearly 80 percent of the city's IC enterprises and accounts for 70 percent of its output. The district has also formed an industrial chain covering chip design, wafer manufacturing, packaging, testing, and other related sectors.
Zeng Wanhui, chairman and president of Jingjia Micro, praised Wuxi and Wuxi National Hi-tech District for their efficient and attentive services.
Jingjia Micro is the first domestic listed company to successfully develop graphic processing chips with independent intellectual property rights and achieve large-scale application.
