North China's Shanxi province utilized foreign investment of $494 million in the first half of 2023, an increase of 144.26 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the Shanxi Department of Commerce on July 28.
Foreign investment in the secondary and tertiary industries reached $391 million and $104 million, up 226.56 percent and 25.15 percent, respectively, year-on-year.
The funds mainly came from the British Virgin Islands, the United States, the Cayman Islands, and Australia.
Nine of 11 cities in Shanxi had foreign investment in place from January to June, with five seeing this grow compared to last year.
