Tongzhou district in Nantong, Jiangsu province, witnessed rapid growth in its industrial sector during the first half of the year, with an increase of 12.8 percent year-on-year in the output value of industries above designated size.
During this period, the district focused on cultivating new growth drivers and exploring new avenues for industrial development.
As a result, it attracted a cluster of leading enterprises and innovative projects, particularly in the fields of energy storage and automotive electronics. Among them is Nantong Jianghai Capacitor Co Ltd, a high-tech enterprise engaged in the research, development, production and sales of capacitors and their materials and instruments.
The company's subsidiary, Jianghai Energy Storage Technology Co Ltd, currently boasts a daily production capacity of about 490,000 supercapacitors.
The company has also collaborated with Suzhou King Long Bus Company to produce lithium-ion supercapacitors, which are safer, longer-lasting, and offer faster charging and discharging capabilities compared to traditional lithium batteries. These lithium-ion supercapacitors are expected to commence later this year.
Due to rapid industrial development, Tongzhou achieved a GDP of 88.05 billion yuan ($12.32 billion), with a growth rate of 7.8 percent year-on-year.
