Shanxi sees 4.7% GDP growth in H1

According to the Shanxi Provincial Bureau of Statistics, the province saw strong economic growth, with provincial gross domestic product (GDP) for the first half of the year reaching 1.17 trillion yuan ($162,43 billion), a growth of 4.7 percent compared to the same period last year.

During this period, the added value of the province's agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishing industries reached 47.57 billion yuan.

The provincial sown area for summer grain was 8.04 million mu (535,866.67 hectares), a year-on-year growth of 0.2 percent. Overall summer grain production reached 2.47 million metric tons, indicating an increase of 0.8 percent.

The production of pork, beef, mutton, and poultry meat increased by 8 percent to 858,000 tons, while vegetable and edible mushroom production increased by 3.6 percent and melons and fruit production increased by 4.4 percent.

The added value of large-scale industries in the province increased by 3.9 percent compared to the same period last year. The growth rate accelerated by 0.4 percentage points from January to May, surpassing the national growth rate by 0.1 percentage points.

The output of mining industry and manufacturing industry grew by 2.1 percent and 8.3 percent, respectively, while the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, and water increased by 4.5 percent.

Fiscal revenue showed fast growth in the first half of the year and the province's general public budget revenue reached 1.96 trillion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 7.4 percent.

Meanwhile, residents enjoyed steady growth in incomes. The per capita disposable income of urban residents in the province reached 19,526 yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 5 percent. Meanwhile, the per capita disposable income of rural residents was 7,668 yuan, growing by 8 percent, which is 0.2 percentage points higher than the national average.

The overall employment situation remained stable, with the province's urban areas seeing 266,000 new jobs. This achievement accounted for 59.1 percent of the annual employment target.
