Huanglong Island in Shengsi county, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, has over the past 20 years been striving to advance rural vitalization.
For example, authorities have channeled more resources into improving the living environment, including launching volunteer teams to help clean the island every week.
Meng Fanru, a tourist from Suzhou, Jiangsu province, said that the island is very clean, nice, and worth a visit.
Authorities have also made full use of idle assets and converted them into public cultural venues such as a ship model studio, tourist service center, stone culture museum and fishing museum to develop rural tourism and improve people's sense of wellbeing.
In addition, the local government is focusing on developing a fishing industry, which will in turn aid its common prosperity drive.
