BEIJING -- In the first half of this year, procuratorates across China assisted elderly people, disabled people and women suffering domestic violence in filing 43,000 civil lawsuits, 21.9 percent more than the figure for 2022, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said Wednesday.
Those people who receive assistance faced harm to their interests but were afraid to file lawsuits or had no knowledge on the subject, according to the SPP.
In the first half of 2023, Chinese procuratorates also provided assistance to 37,000 legal case victims who were facing living difficulties as a result, up 65.7 percent year on year, the SPP said.
