A conference on promoting the integrated development of China-Europe freight train services in nine Shandong cities in the Yellow River Basin was held in Jinan, capital of Shandong province, on July 13.
Representatives from nine cities – Jinan, Zibo, Dongying, Jining, Tai'an, Dezhou, Liaocheng, Binzhou, and Heze – attended the event.
Jinan was chosen to host the event due to the vital role it plays in facilitating two-way opening-up between land and sea.
In addition, Jinan has a comprehensive transportation system. One can travel to 254 cities in China via high-speed rail from Jinan.
The city has also been ramping up the expansion of its airport's second phase, which will link the city to over 190 cities around the world.
Jinan also has logistical advantages. The city has in recent years been conferred titles such as "a national logistics hub for trade and services" and "a national backbone cold chain logistics base".
