Hainan Tourism Duty Free Shopping Complex Sanya

Funded by Hainan Tourism Investment Duty Free Co Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hainan Tourism Investment Development Co Ltd, Hainan Tourism Duty Free Shopping Complex Sanya (HTDF-Sanya) covers a business area of 95,000 square meters, making it the largest such shopping complex in Sanya, South China's Hainan province.

HTDF-Sanya officially opened on Dec 30, 2020. It is host to 45 categories of duty-free commodities, such as perfume, cosmetics, watches, jewelry, and electronic products. It is a large-scale high-end tourism retail complex that integrates duty-free shopping, catering and entertainment.

Up to now, more than 700 internationally renowned brands have settled in at the shopping complex. By the end of July, more than 160 official international brands will open up shop.

HTDF-Sanya has implemented brand differentiation strategies to meet the shopping needs of different consumers. It has introduced 165 perfume and cosmetics brands, dozens of famous fashion brands, and a complete range of sporting goods and electronic products, such as camera equipment, golf clubs, badminton rackets and fishing tackle. Some local Hainan brands are also sold at the complex.

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the implementation of Hainan's offshore island duty-free policy. During the past decade, Hainan has raised its annual duty-free shopping quota from 5,000 yuan ($772) to 100,000 yuan per person. Meanwhile, the number of duty-free goods categories has been expanded from 18 to 45.

Four stores, including HTDF-Sanya, CNSC Sanya International Duty-free Plaza, Sanya Phoenix International Airport Duty-free Shop and Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex, form a new pattern of duty-free shopping in Sanya. In the first quarter of this year, the amount of duty-free shopping in Sanya reached 10.4 billion yuan, which is 3.9 times higher than that in 2020.
