Luhuitou Park

The deer is an emblem of Sanya. The city is sometimes referred to as “Deer City.”

Sanya’s Luhuitou Park is one of the city’s best known attractions. The story of the park is the romantic legend of a Li hunter chasing a deer. Sitting prominently on the park’s hilltop is a large sculpture of a deer, turning its head to look back at a hunter.

According to legend, when the deer pursued by the Li hunter had nowhere left to run, it turned its head to look back at the hunter and transformed into a beautiful girl, and the hunter instantly fell in love with her. Now, the park is a popular place for young couples. From the path circling the hilltop, visitors can enjoy spectacular views of Sanya city, the bay, and the surrounding countryside.
