In ancient times, from the eighth to the 18th day of the 12th lunar month every year, village florists set up sheds and opened a market. Thousands of people in Dazhuang village in Qufu, now a county-level city in Jining, displayed their silk, velvet and wax flowers in stalls, and many merchants from other places also displayed their varieties of flowers in rented sheds, promoting the exchange and development of silk flowers from Dazhuang and foreign silk flowers.
With market demand, the varieties of flowers have developed paper, wax, string and plum flowers as well as the original silk and velvet.
