Shanxi province has achieved higher summer grain production, yield, and sowing area compared to last year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics on July 15.
During this year's wheat harvest, the province deployed over 15,000 combined harvesters, achieving a mechanized harvesting rate of 99.4 percent.
The sown area of wheat increased by 0.15 percent to 535,900 hectares, resulting in a total summer grain production of 2.47 million metric tons, 0.77 percent higher than the previous year. The yield per hectare reached a historical record of 4,610.7 kilograms, increasing by 0.61 percent.

Various regions across the province have provided financial support and technical assistance for wheat production, guiding farmers in timely and appropriate sowing and implementing field management based on seedlings and moisture conditions.
The Shanxi Department of Finance allocated 56.37 million yuan ($7.87 million) of assistance funds apart from a budget of 30 million yuan, combined with a central government subsidy of 37.26 million yuan, to ensure stable and increased wheat production.

The Shanxi Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs organized over 14,000 agricultural technicians to provide technical services in rural areas. They collaborated with the Shanxi Meteorological Administration to issue warning and precautionary measures to more than 5,000 entities and provided on-site guidance in response to adverse weather conditions such as strong winds, temperature drops, and rainfall.
