The Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone has more than 400 biomedical companies, over 30 percent of such companies in the province.

During January and November of 2017, the output value of enterprises above a designated size reached 7.26 billion yuan ($ 1.06 billion). The zone has formed the following five industrial clusters: a biomedical industrial cluster represented by Anhui Anke Biotechnology (Group) Co Ltd, Tonrol Bio-Pharmaceutical Co Ltd, Zhaoke Pharmaceutical (Hefei) Co Ltd and Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Co Ltd; a chemical medicine industrial cluster with facilities of Anhui Lifeon Pharmaceutical Co Ltd, Anhui Beike Bio-pharmaceutical Co Ltd and Anhui Piom Pharmaceutical Co Ltd; a modern traditional Chinese medicine industrial cluster represented by Hefei Meiya Optoelectronic Technology Inc., Ortho-k Technology (Hefei) Co Ltd and Huami Co Ltd; and a precision medicine industrial cluster consisting of Nuwacell Ltd and Hefei Jinyu Medical Inspection Office Co Ltd.
