Children in Beijing are eagerly awaiting the 12th China Children's Theater Festival, which is scheduled to run from July 15 to Aug 20.
The month-long extravaganza will entrance children and teenagers through a combination of online and offline screenings.
For the first time, the 12th edition of the festival will set up a special online section showcasing exceptional international children's drama. Audiences will be treated to eight foreign productions, offering a glimpse into diverse customs and artistic styles from seven countries: Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Israel, Cyprus, Romania and South Africa. These dramas will be streamed for free on popular social media platforms such as Douyin (the Chinese version of TikTok) and China's Twitter-like Weibo.
The festival is hosted by the China National Theater for Children, which has been included in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's "The Silk Road of Culture" project.
