Cool Guiyang ready for summer vacation tourism

Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is renowned for its cool climate, with an average temperature of 22.3 Celsius in summer, making it a "2023 preferred summer tourism destination". With the arrival of summer, increasing tourists are flocking to the city for summer vacation.

According to Yang Gaofeng, general manager of Guizhou Tianyue Tourism Group Co, the travel agency receives an average of thousands of tourists per day, double the number before the Dragon Boat Festival and higher than the same period in 2019.

The tourists are bringing in income for local people but also leading to short supply of hotel rooms and tour buses.

Wang Yachan, secretary general of the Guiyang tourism industry association, said that summer tourism promotional policies such as free or half-price admission for students, have attracted more and more tourists to Guiyang. According to previous statistics, the peak period of summer tourism in Guiyang is in mid-July, when Guiyang will hold more tourist activities, including school exchange activities, urban night tours, food festivals and shopping festivals.  

On June 28, the Guiyang tourism industry association also launched an initiative calling on every tourism practitioners to provide services for tourists in an honest way and improve the quality of services to maintain Guiyang's "Cool Guiyang" brand.
