The Shanghai Natural Wild Insect Museum is the first science exhibition pavilion of living insects, amphibians and reptiles in China that integrates tourism and education. The Museum is divided into an Ecological Garden, an insect promenade, an ecological touch area, amphibian and reptile caves, display areas for turtles and frogs, a water touch area, a tropical rain forest area and classrooms. Hi-tech equipment and facilities are adopted to place living insects and amphibians as much as possible into their natural forests, lakes and other aquaculture environments for better growth and reproduction.
In 2012, the Museum established a freshwater ornamental shrimp area and a renovated insect promenade which became popular with visitors because of their natural settings and dramatic staging.
