Guiyang and Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province will fully leverage its policies, resources, services, and digitalization to promote the preservation and innovative development of traditional Chinese medicine.
In terms of policies, the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government have formulated supporting policies for the high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine to support Guiyang's efforts to develop traditional Chinese medicine and ethnic medicine.
Regarding resource advantages, Guiyang is known as the "Natural Medicine Valley" due to its abundant and high-quality Chinese medicinal ingredients. It is the center of research and manufacturing for traditional Chinese medicine in the province, and the planting area, output, and output value of Chinese medicinal materials have an average annual growth rate of over 100%.
Guiyang has established 11 customized medicine parks, two demonstration projects in traditional Chinese medicine health tourism. It is also the home to 43 provincial-level and above scientific research platforms, including the "National Engineering Research Center for Miao Ethnic Medicine," and a number of Chinese medicine enterprises.
In terms of service, Guiyang has built the first Chinese Medicine Famous Doctor Hall in the country, gathering the highest-quality Chinese medical resources in the province. In 2019, the city achieved full coverage of Chinese medicine halls.
As of 2022, all 103 community health service centers and 73 township health centers in the city can provide traditional Chinese medicine services.
What's more, Guiyang has the most experiments, pilot programs, and demonstrations in the field of big data of any city in the country. It has promulgated the first local regulations on medical big data in China, established the National Health and Medical Big Data Western Center, and promoted a number of medical big data applications.
Furthermore, Guiyang and Guian will promote the integrated development of Chinese medicine in five aspects – services, inheritance, intelligence, digitalization, and policies, in an effort to benefit people's health.
Efforts will be made to build new provincial-level, city-level, county-level, and township-level hospitals as well as establish studios led by academicians, masters, and famous doctors to promote the inheritance of traditional Chinese medicine.
In addition, Guiyang plans to establish more than 10 research platforms, carry out key technological research in traditional Chinese medicine, and develop more than 20 Chinese medicine preparations. A cooperation, development, and benefit-sharing mechanism will also be established to collect and compile ethnic folk prescriptions.
Plans for Guiyang and Guian also include cultivating at least 30 strategic leaders in traditional Chinese medicine, providing training for 50 outstanding talents, nurturing 200 backbone talents, and training over 500 talents in integrated Chinese and Western medicine.
Moreover, Guiyang plans to increase the reimbursement ratio for traditional Chinese medicine services to better benefit the people.
