Jining No 1 High School was founded in 1902.
It was one of the earliest new schools set up in Shandong province in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
In 1931, it became Shandong Provincial No 7 Middle School. From 1942 to the eve of the liberation of Jining, it has become Shandong Provincial Jining Middle School. In 1951 it was named Jining No 1 High School. In 1962, it was identified as a key middle school in Shandong province and in 1981, it became one of the first 19 key provincial middle schools announced by the Shandong Education Department. In 1992, it was included in the first group of standardized provincial schools authorized by the Shandong Education Department.
The school now has two campuses - Taibai and Beihu. It covers a total area of 585 acres and a building area of 179,310 square meters. The school has 103 teaching classrooms, 5,209 students, 485 faculty members, 449 full-time teachers, 156 masters' degree holders, and two PhD holders.
There are 15 model laborers and outstanding teachers, as rated in the national education system. There are more than 50 outstanding teachers at the provincial and municipal levels, more than 100 provincial and municipal excellent teachers, backbone teachers, disciplinary leaders, professional and technical talent staff and teaching experts.
