The Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area, or NETDA, was among the first group of 14 national-level economic and technological development zones in China.
It was established on Dec 19, 1984 after getting approval from the central government and is situated in the southeast of Nantong city in East China, with the area home to some 332,000 permanent residents.
The Nantong Economical and Technological Development Area (NETDA) in East China's Jiangsu province made significant achievements in its social and economic development in 2022.
Specifically, the output value of NETDA's enterprises above designated size stood at 168.1 billion yuan ($25.05 billion) in the January-November period, a year-on-year increase of 16.3 percent.
During the same period, NETDA's imports and exports were valued at 64.13 billion yuan, up 28 percent year-on-year.
The actual use of foreign capital in the area in the first 11 months of 2022 was $600 million.
NETDA also made great progress in advancing the transformation and upgrading of its industries. Last year, it added three national little giants, 56 provincial little giants and 143 city-level high-tech small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
In addition, NETDA authorities took measures to build industrial parks that are free of extraneous odors. This move has played a significant role in improving the area's living and business environment, said a local official.
These achievements have been made possible largely due to the efforts such as rolling out 46 favorable policies to help NETDA enterprises weather challenges brought about by the coronavirus pandemic and holding a series of road shows in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Xi'an to attract more high-caliber talents to the area.
It has established multiple industry platforms such as the Nantong Free Trade Zone, the International Data Center Industrial Park, the Big Data Industrial Park, the National Integrated Circuit Test Industrial Park and the New Generation Information Technology Industrial Park.
