Where to spend your nights in Suzhou

Brilliant fireworks, colorful light shows, flying fireflies, chirping cicadas… … They are just part of the summer nights of Suzhou New District, Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province.

Where to find such a charming summer night in SND?

Suzhou Amusement Land kicked off its two-month summer carnival season on June 22, during which both its Forest World and Forest Waterworld extend their opening hours to 10 pm.

One of the carnival's highlight is the Light Festival. Visitors can enjoy a wonderful lantern show and float parade.

The Taihu Lake Wetland Park takes its tourists back to their childhood from July 1 to Aug 27. Floral boats with sika deer-, panda-, and rabbit-shaped lanterns are cruising around the park and stage dramas are performed every weekend.

The night carnival at the Baimajian Longchi Scenic Area, or White Horse Ravine and Dragon Pool, features the creatures mentioned in Shan Hai Jing, or The Classic of Mountains and Seas, a 2,000-year-old collection of mythic geography, animals and folklore.

At Dayang Mountain Botanical Garden, visitors can drink beer, watch various performances, and enjoy brilliant fireworks from July 8 to Oct 6. The light show transforms the forest in the garden into a fantasyland.
