Hechi recently got approval to set up an autonomous-region-level economic and technological development zone, which will have a total planned area of approximately 2,530 hectares.
The zone will consist of four sub-parks. The focal point of these sub-parks is the Hechi Industrial Park, which will span 1,240 hectares and encompass the Daren and Dongjiang areas. The other sub-parks include the 530-hectare Huanjiang Sub-park, the 231-hectare Du'an Sub-park, as well as the 529-hectare Nandan Sub-park.
In terms of development positioning, both the Hechi Industrial Park and the Nandan Sub-park will strive to establish national-level demonstration bases for the metal new materials industry.
The Huanjiang Sub-park will prioritize the development of industries, including forest products processing, silk processing, specialty food processing, and electronic information.
The Du'an Sub-park will focus on the development of industries including cement, calcium carbonate new materials, new building materials, agricultural product processing, electronic processing, and port logistics.
In the first half of this year, the Hechi Economic and Technological Development Zone is expected to achieve a revenue of 22.49 billion yuan ($3 billion), a year-on-year increase of 20.47 percent. It will also reach an industrial output value of 21.45 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.32 percent.
In the next stage, Hechi will develop the zone into an important driving force for economic development and cross-regional cooperation.
