China Datang Corporation is amega power-generating enterprise group established on the basis of several enterprises and institutions of the former State Power Corporation on Dec 29, 2002. It is a solely state-owned enterprise directly managed by the CPC Central Committee and is the experimental state-authorized investment and pilot state shareholding enterprise ratified by the State Council of the People's Republic of China, with a registered capital of 37 billion yuan ($ 5.3 billion).

Its main business scope is: operating of all state-owned assets formed by the state investment and owned by the group company among group companies and related enterprises; engaging in the development, investment, construction, operation and management of electric energy; organizing the production and sales of electric power (and heat); manufacturing of electric equipment, equipment maintenance and commissioning; power technology development and consulting; power engineering, power environmental protection project contracting and consulting; new energy development; electric-power-related coal resources development and production; self-operated and agent import and export of various commodities and technologies; contracting overseas projects and domestic and international bidding projects; exporting equipment and materials required for the above-mentioned overseas projects; dispatching laborers required for the implementation of the above-mentioned overseas projects.

The company has successively established 18 regional subsidiaries including Datang Hebei Power Generation Co and Datang Sichuan Power Generation Co and established 11 regional branches such as Shanghai branch and Zhejiang branch, and professional companies such as Datang Power Fuel Co.

By the end of 2017, China Datang Corporation's in-service and under construction assets were distributed across31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, as well as overseas countries such as Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and other countries and regions, with total assets of 726.6 billion yuan and a total of approximately 100,000 employees, with an installed power generation capacity of 142 million kilowatts. Since 2010, the company has been listed in the world's top 500 companies for eight consecutive years.

On Feb 26 this year, the corporation announced its establishment of Datang International Energy Service Co and Datang International Fuel Trade Co in the city of Sanya, which marksanotherkey business moveit has madein thesouthern Chinese tropical city.

On Dec 26, 2019, China Datang Corporation set up the China Datang Overseas Investment Co in Sanya,and the two new subsidiaries were set up in accordance to Sanya’s city features, industrial advantages,and growth orientation. The two companieswill focus ontheinternational energy services and fuel trade business,withabusiness scope spanning coal imports,theimport and export of mechanical and electrical equipment,as well astechnology importsand exports.
