Over the past few years, Beijing's Daxing district has adopted multiple measures to strengthen the protection of biodiversity, building it into an ideal habitat for wild plants and animals.
Daxing has planted over 20,000 hectares of forest, built 16 parks and 523 hectares of wetlands, and set up several hundred man-made nests for birds and insects across the entire district.
Daxing has created a smart data base and intelligent management platform to monitor its forest, grass and wetland resources and intensified reforestation and publicity efforts for biodiversity protection in a move to enhance the participation of the public in the protection of wildlife.
To date, Daxing is home to 125 species of plants, 128 ancient and rare trees, and 211 types of wild birds. In addition, many wild animals have settled in the area.
