Gaojing Mountain Park in Fengqiao sub-district, Suzhou New District is expected to open to the public in January 2022 after over a year of "green renovation", local media outlets reported.
With a total afforested area of 42.7 hectares, which is equivalent to 56 football fields, the park will include several large-scale green spaces where local residents can go camping and fly kites. Sports facilities, such as cage football, basketball courts, and pathways for brisk walking, have also been planned to cater to the fitness needs of neighboring residents.
As an open space for sports and recreation, the scenic spot will not have an official gate. Instead, it will have new pedestrian paths at the crossroads of Huashan Road and Zhaohong Road. There will also be about 200 parking spaces for cars, bicycles, and electric bicycles. Visitors can also take tram line 1 to Baimajian Eco Park Station to get to the park.
Gaojing Mountain Park was praised by the Ministry of Natural Resources in 2003 for its application of multiple ecological restoration methods and its quick reforestation of the once bare mountain.
