In recent years, the district has carried out 223 city-level leading talent projects, 1,118 district-level talent projects, 113 provincial innovative and entrepreneurial projects, 48 national-level talent projects, as well as attracting a large number of high-end professionals. They have together contributed to the prosperous development of the district.
The Suzhou Campus of the prestigious Nanjing University was also settled in Suzhou New District.

Suzhou New District is located on the west of the picturesque Taihu lake, connects the Jiangsu provincial city of Nanjing in the north, has metropolis Shanghai on its east side, and has Hangzhou, capital of the neighboring Zhejiang province, to the south.
Residents from the district can take a high-speed train or a flight to Shanghai, Nanjing and Hangzhou within an hour. It also takes only an hour's drive to get to other major cities in the Yangtze River Delta region from Suzhou New District. The convenient waterways of the Grand Canal and Yangtze River offer another option of transportation, which in together contributed to the district's distinctive geographical and market advantages.
Suzhou New District has the world-renowned ancient city of Suzhou located on its east wing and the picturesque Taihu Lake, which covers over 36,000 hectares, standing to its west. On the south side of the district are lush rolling mountains stringing together the Shihu Lake Scenic Spot, Dongting East-West Mountain Scenic Spot, Tianling Scenic Spot, Hanshan Temple, and the Tiger Hill Scenic Spot.
The district has four distinctive seasons, a mild climate, and friendly temperatures, which is since ancient times a precious land of elegant Jiangnan landscapes and profound Wu culture.
To further support the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, Suzhou New District has been actively implementing innovative measures in recent years.
Its efforts include focusing on the industries for integrated circuits, biopharmaceuticals, and medical apparatus and instruments. Detailed efforts were specified by setting up the Medpark, Inspirationpark, and Suzhou Japan New-Tech Bay, inviting roughly 100 research institutes of renowned academies and universities, and establishing cooperative talent programs with domestic higher learning institutions and foreign companies.
