The Shanxi Museum of Geology in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, reopened on July 1 following nearly 5 months of upgrades and renovations.
The upgrades included improvements to the exhibition display, infrastructure, and specimen storage facilities.
According to Shi Jianru, curator of the museum, an exhibition of rare animal specimens from various continents will be offered, offering the public a natural scientific and cultural feast.

Located at No 17 Binhe West Road in the city, the museum is a professional scientific and technological museum dedicated to promoting the knowledge of mineral resources and Earth sciences in Shanxi.
It was selected as one of the national first-class museums in 2020 and was designated as a base for geological science popularization and field study by the Geological Society of China in 2021.
