Baotou among national innovation-driven demonstration cities

The China Association for Science and Technology recently issued a notice supporting the construction of innovation-driven demonstration cities in 2023-25. Some 39 prefecture-level administrative regions were approved to build these, including Baotou.

The innovation-driven demonstration city is determined by expert review based on the participation in the two types of pilot projects of the China Association for Science and Technology – "Innovation-driven Support Project" and "Innovation China" pilot cities – and the supporting and leading demonstration role of scientific and technological innovation in serving economic and social development. It is a higher-level demonstration and upgrading version built based on the pilot.

The goal is to create several regional innovation hubs with national influence and deepen the construction of pilot zones based on the theme of "Innovation China."

Baotou has efficiently used all kinds of high-quality association and national societies resources to promote the pilot construction of "Innovation China." Baotou ranked among the top 10 pilot cities of "Innovation China" in the country and made a typical speech at the annual conference of "Innovation China" in 2023.

In recent years, Baotou has promoted 2,333 experts to join the "Innovation China" platform, released 1,135 scientific and technological achievements; jointly held 17 high-end academic activities with national societies, including the Modern Energy Industry-University-Research Integration Summit Forum; held 35 training sessions for innovative methods and technical managers, and certified 514 national second-level innovation engineers and technical managers; built three national science popularization education bases, one scientist spirit education base, and 13 Inner Mongolia autonomous region science popularization education bases.

Next, Baotou will strive to promote the deep integration of innovation, industrial, capital, and talent chains.
