Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – is hosting various activities that are designed to develop its night economy, bringing new vitality to urban economic and social development as the weather warms up.
At a local night fair in the city's Hailing district, a gourmet festival is currently attracting visitors in endless streams. Eager foodies are queuing up to feast on lobster and quaff cold beer. Residents in the neighborhood are also showing up to enjoy outdoor movies and performances.
Besides the gastronomic fun, people can also visit an automobile carnival, where they can have a close look at the latest products of manufacturers.
More than 200 cars were ordered at the spot over the past week, up 161 percent year-on-year. The value of sales during the period hit 29.38 million yuan ($4.04 million), an increase of 77.8 percent on the previous corresponding period.
Similar leisure and entertainment activities can also be found in the city's rural areas. In Hezhuye village, in Jiangyan district, for example, tents, snack stands and barbecues have been set up at the venue of a music festival.
"I feel so carefree when I drink beer and eat lobster with good friends," said one visitor.
According to Wu Gaohua, Party chief of the village, the performers and stand owners are all local villagers and the festival attracted 1,500 visits.
The sales revenue for a single night during the event exceeded 30,000 yuan, Wu said, adding that the village hoped to develop its own camping brand and attract more visitors through holding livestreaming sessions on a regular basis.
