Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province has in recent years achieved remarkable progress in providing public cultural services.
Currently, the city has a total of 2,969 cultural facilities with a total area of 459,200 square meters. There are 43 branch libraries, 46 urban bookstores, and 250 rural book houses. Last year, 1,419 lectures and exhibitions and 1,067 performances were featured.
Authorities will strengthen quality management, initiate the smart transformation of important cultural venues, and create a model of "mass customization, intelligent distribution, supply-demand matching, and streamlined efficiency" in Zhoushan.
The city will also accelerate the upgrading of public cultural facilities, complete the upgrading of cultural facilities such as Shengsi Library and Dinghai Cultural Station, and accelerate the development of islands’ public cultural spaces, creating a group of new public cultural spaces with "beauty, culture, and warmth".
Authorities will also promote the creation of A-level cultural venues in scenic areas and the opening of cultural venues at night.
In addition, the city will carry out the project of popularizing arts among the public, establish a public welfare training brand for arts education, and plan to hold more than 2,000 hours of public welfare training at the municipal level throughout the year.
