More than 10 expats from the US, Russia, Iran and other countries experienced local culture and technological development in Suzhou New District, Suzhou of East China's Jiangsu province , from June 29 to 30.
The activity kicked off with performances by David from Russia and pingtan actor Zhou Mengbai, who told of the cultural gems in Suzhou such as Kunqu Opera, embroidery, and kesi, a type of Chinese silk tapestry weaving that used to be enjoyed by royalty.

Zhou Haiyun, an embroidery master in SND, showed her fine and unique embroideries, which were called fascinating works by Aizat Kaparova, a Kazakhstan student who is studying visual communication design at Jiangnan University in Wuxi.
Kaparova said that she had seen some embroidery works, but Zhou's still exceeded her expectations as the embroideries show rich Chinese culture.
The first digital culture and tourism referrer in Jiangsu, Fengling, made an appearance at the activity to introduce the digital transformation efforts of SND as well as the district's latest achievements in the integrated development of technology and culture.
Zohreh Shahnavaz from Iran, who has lived in Suzhou for four years after working as a science researcher in many countries, believes that Suzhou is a charming city and is an ideal home for scientists and common citizens.
During the two-day activity, the expats visited the Taihu Photon Technology Park, China Mobile Cloud Capability Center, Suzhou Museum West, and other places in SND. They recorded what they saw by lens and shared the images with their friends.
