A delegation of 49 online celebrities from around China paid a visit to the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) on June 27.
The delegation members learned about the zone's development over the past three decades and rode unmanned vehicles independently developed in the zone.
WEDZ is currently synergizing the development of smart cities and intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs) by bringing in Cecloud, JDCloud, and iFlytek to build smart city brains, beautiful communities, intelligent industrial parks and other kinds of smart city management platforms.
Additionally, the zone has successfully implemented six types of ICV applications, including 15 specific application scenarios such as shared mobility, public transportation integration, and sanitation. At the beginning of this year, the zone opened up over 660 kilometers of ICV test roads, becoming the fourth region nationwide and the first in central China to do so.

"New energy vehicle companies like VOYAH, Xiaopeng, and Lotus have all set up operations in the Wuhan Economic & Development Zone, which is more than I would've imagined," said popular internet influencer Yuan Guobao, who has over 15 million followers. He pointed out that things such as big data, artificial intelligence, and autonomous driving all converged there, making WEDZ one of the most dynamic technological innovation hubs in China."
The visit will reportedly last for five days, and the delegation will then tour Yichang, Qianjiang, Xiantao and other places in Hubei province.
