The 7th Summer Summit of World Congress of Chinese Medicine, titled "Inheritance, innovation and integrated development – promote the high-quality of Chinese medicine to the world", opened in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on June 25.
Liu Xiaofeng, former vice-chairperson of the CPPCC National Committee, and Huang Luqi, deputy director general of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, delivered video speeches at the event. Ma Jianzhong, chairman of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, gave an opening speech. A number of other senior officials, academicians and experts also attended the event.
Liu offered his congratulations on the successful opening of the event, and said in his speech that over the past six years, congress has gathered top experts, scholars and enterprise representatives in the traditional Chinese medicine industry from various countries and regions around the world to discuss cutting-edge technologies in the industry, share the latest technological trends, think about the industry's future development, and jointly build a more prosperous and sustainable industrial ecosystem, which was highly influential in the industry both at home and abroad.
He expressed hope that if everybody works together, congress can achieve better results.
Ma welcomed the guests and said in his speech that the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, as the world’s largest international academic organization of traditional Chinese medicine, is giving full play to its role as a bridge connecting domestic and foreign Chinese medicine groups, experts and scholars, and strives to promote the high-quality international dissemination and development of Chinese medicine.
Guizhou, renowned as a "natural treasure trove" of medicinal resources, is one of four major production areas for traditional Chinese medicine in China. The province has maintained a strong cooperative relationship with the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies.
Through the congress, it is hoped that the province will cooperate with more local institutions, forge more partnerships, establish a high-quality international exchange platform, and further promote the development of the traditional Chinese medicine industry, he added.
Speeches made by other senior officials also conveyed the same hope.
During the opening ceremony, the award ceremony for the 7th International Contribution Award in Traditional Chinese Medicine was held, as was the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies Miao-Dong-Yao Medicine Professional Committee plaque award ceremony. In addition, two famous doctor studios were unveiled.
