With the coming of holidays and graduation season, this year's peak travel season arrived earlier than expected in Southwest China's Guizhou province during this year's Dragon Boat Festival holiday, which fell on June 22-24.
With many provinces across the country experiencing high temperatures, "avoiding summer heat" has become a hot topic. Data from travel website Mafengwo shows that the cities of Guiyang and Liupanshui in Guizhou are popular destinations due to their cool weather in summer.
During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, Suiyang River, Qingshui River, Jinjiang River and Wujiang River in Guizhou were packed with boats.
On June 21, the China Shibing Wooden Dragon Boat Festival was held in Shibing county, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture. The Guinness World Record-certified "world's longest wooden dragon boat" was carried into the river by 1,000 men, followed by a grand parade of 3,600 Miao women dressed in traditional costumes.
On June 23, the village super league kicked off in Rongjiang county, watched by about 50,000 people.
Guizhou recently announced preferential policies for summer tourism. From June 16 to August 31, all primary and secondary school students, university students, and children under the age of six from across the country will be offered free admission to national A-level scenic spots in Guizhou with valid ID cards.
These policies aim to promote the booking of educational trips, family trips, and graduation trips throughout the province.
For the middle-aged and elderly, experiencing the festive atmosphere on a slow train has become a popular trend. During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, Train No 5630 from Zunyi to Chongqing set up special carriages to allow passengers to experience China's festival traditions.
