Jinan prepares to bolster development of industrial internet

The Jinan government recently released a three-year action plan regarding the enhancing of the city's digital development and the building of a demonstration zone for the innovation and development of the industrial internet in China.

The plan contains specific tasks that should be completed by 2025. They include promoting the coordinated development of dual gigabit networks, constructing more than 60,000 5G base stations and fully connected 5G factories, and creating a national pilot zone for "5G plus industrial internet".

The city is also aiming to cultivate up to two national leading cross-disciplinary industrial internet platforms and 10 characteristic platforms, attract research institutions and laboratories in the industrial internet, and speed up the construction of key projects such as the Jinan Artificial Intelligence Computing Center, the Inspur Integrated Big Data Center and the Shandong Comprehensive Energy Big Data Center.

According to the plan, Jinan will construct 10 industrial internet parks, tap into more than 100 application scenarios and boost the digital transformation of some 1,000 industrial enterprises above designated size.

Green solution

The plan is focused on launching typical application scenarios and standardizing the "industrial internet plus green manufacturing" solutions for areas like energy conservation, carbon reduction, water conservation, pollution reduction and utilization of resources.

Favorable policies

A government procurement service model will be adopted to empower the digital transformation of industrial enterprises. For example, the city will provide support for the introduction of major projects, guide the establishment of innovation development funds and incentivize financial institutions to provide efficient services for corporate listings, mergers and acquisitions, and restructuring.

The plan emphasizes increasing talent attraction efforts and strengthening the education of fields related to the industrial internet within universities in Jinan.

Jinan will set up more national research institutions, key laboratories and other entities in the industrial internet to deepen related R&D and technology transfer. The city will also encourage enterprises in the Jinan Start-up Area for Growth Drivers Transformation and the Jinan Area of China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone to explore new business formats.
