The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Symposium on Digital, Green, and Coordinated Transformation and Development successfully kicked off in Harbin, the capital city of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province, on June 20.
The symposium is sponsored by the State Internet Information Office and organized by the internet information office of the CPC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee.
More than 200 people from the State Internet Information Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and other relevant departments, representatives of APEC economies, representatives of domestic and foreign industry leaders such as Huawei, Baidu, and Tencent, and well-known experts and scholars participated in the seminar online and offline.
In the discussion, session focused on promoting green and low-carbon development in the digital industry, eight participants representing governments, enterprises, think tanks, and industry organizations from APEC-related economies came together to share their practices, experience, thoughts, and insights. The discussion aimed to explore the ways in which digital transformation can contribute to achieving green development and harnessing the potential of energy conservation and emission reduction across various sectors. The participants emphasized the importance of innovation and sustainable development in driving the green agenda forward.
APEC is the highest-level, broadest, and most influential economic cooperation mechanism in the Asia-Pacific region and plays an essential and positive role in promoting global and regional economic growth.
In the afternoon of the same day, the guests went to the Shenzhen (Harbin) Industrial Park Comprehensive Exhibition Center, Beidahuang Yanjiagang Farm, and other places to investigate the practical results of Heilongjiang's digital green development.
The following day, the guests will conduct two seminars on accelerating the green transformation of traditional industries empowered by digital technology and playing the role of green transformation in digital industries.
