State Grid Shanxi Electric Power Co has been undertaking the task of revolutionizing energy usage in North China's Shanxi province in recent years, and minimizing emissions of pollutants.
By carefully scheduling the release of energy at Wanjiazhai, Longkou, and Tianqiao hydroelectric power stations on the Yellow River, the company has been able to achieve 100 percent hydroelectric power consumption. From January to May, the cumulative hydroelectric power generation was 1.78 billion kWh, up 0.71 percent year-on-year.
The company encourages full consumption of wind and solar power. From January to May, its average utilization of wind power reached 1,088 hours, an increase of 156 hours year-on-year, while the average utilization of solar power was 566 hours, almost on par with last year.
Carbon emissions in Shanxi are now being effectively controlled and power is being distributed and used more effectively and efficiently.
