Shanxi supports construction of museum cities

Shanxi province will support local Taiyuan, Datong, Jincheng and Linfen in constructing museum cities.

The province plans to build a number of themed museums reflecting the characteristics of Shanxi's cultural relics in the four cities. It will also promote the construction of intelligent and digital museums, encourage cities and counties to fully explore local cultural relics resources, and expand the coverage of public cultural services to counties and villages. 

There are 197 museums of various types in Shanxi. Among them, 38 are in Taiyuan, as well as 61 quasi-museums, bringing the total to 99. Last year, Taiyuan implemented a cultivation plan to standardize and guide the public to establish museums, memorial halls and other theme-based museums.
