Daishan hosts marine culture festival

The 17th Marine Culture Festival was held in Daishan county, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, on June 18.

The festival, which was held for the first time in 2005, includes a sea-worship ceremony.

More than 320 fishermen from across the county expressed their best wishes by lighting the sacrificial fire and presenting offerings at the ceremony.

The ceremony, which was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2008, is part of efforts by Daishan to promote its marine culture.
