Daishan county in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province has in recent years carried out a micro-renovation and refined upgrading project to bolster its tourism industry.
For example, authorities have renovated scenic areas such as Xiushan Mud Themed Park, Dongsha Ancient Town and Donghai Countryside Park to attract high-quality projects related to homestays and surfing.
Authorities have also upgraded infrastructure in its Qushan town's Liangzhi village, with lamps and identifiers installed and a plank path renovated.
Daishan completed renovations of 45 projects with a combined investment of 240 million yuan ($33.45 million) in the January-May period of this year.
Zheng Peipei, who runs a homestay in the village, said that the upgraded facilities have played a key role in attracting new businesses such as pubs, food stalls and drink stores, which will in turn appeal to more tourists.
The county welcomed 128,600 tourists during this year's May Day holiday, a year-on-year increase of 106.09 percent that generated tourism revenue of 184 million yuan, up 106.38 percent year-on-year.
