Jinan gears up for digital transformation

As China's first demonstration city to implement government-wide cloud-based services, Jinan, capital of Shandong province, has been making concerted efforts to undertake a digital transformation over the past decade.

Authorities have been leveraging new technologies such as big data, blockchain, 5G and the internet of things to improve their management of the city.

Built by Inspur Cloud Information Technology Co, the city's cloud platform Jinan Government Cloud, which provides support for a wide range of matters including infrastructure, storage and computing, and data governance, has also helped reduce operation costs by 30 percent.

Local authorities have also built the Jinan Government Cloud Intelligent Security Operations Center which provides backup services for over 1,100 systems in more than 60 departments in Jinan. The center also explores security scenarios and offers a system integrating asset management, security risk control, traceability and countermeasures for government businesses.

As a heavily populated city, Jinan has multiple and complex government data sets. Relying on the computing power of the government cloud, Jinan has improved its abilities in data collection, governance, computation and application.

Inspur Cloud has accelerated the digitalization of Jinan's departmental management system in three aspects: applications, system and platform. It also allows for the circulation of data resources with its DOS (DataOps, Open Ecosystem and Services of CMO) model.

Currently, more than 13,000 transactions have been conducted through Jinan's integrated big data platform. Thanks to the support of this platform, government data can be efficiently disseminated to various government departments.
