The Chongchuan Economic Development Zone in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, recently saw the emergence of 300 distinctive flower boxes along the main roads of the Panxiangou residential community.
The unique flower boxes were created by using over 1,000 discarded tires and more than 300 rose seedlings, aiming to improve the community's environment.
Established in 2007, the community has been in use for 16 years and faced issues such as damaged road surfaces, inadequate parking spaces, and withered greenery, according to Chen Yong, Party secretary of the community.
To improve the community's environment, the community and property management have collaborated over the past two years to build new fitness and recreational facilities for residents, add nearly 300 parking spaces, replant greenery, and renovate pedestrian walkways on the main roads.
The community has also announced plans to paint a 40-meter-wide white wall on one side of the main road with murals and adorn the railing with climbing roses, further beautifying the streetside environment.
