Forever Dinosaur Papa, a Chinese play for children, was staged in Beijing with 10 performances from June 1 to 5.
As one of the plays born out of Peiyuan — an incubation platform for young drama talent funded by Beijing Culture and Arts, the play combines music, dance and puppet shows, appealing to both children and adults.
The play, three years in preparation, directed by Wang Junting and produced by Zhang Lulu, tells the story of a dinosaur and its father. "They go through troubles and work together to solve problems, just like the children who came to watch the show and their parents," says Zhang.
After the first round of shows, the play will kick off a nationwide tour during the second half of 2023.
Since 2019, the incubation platform, Peiyuan aims at supporting market-oriented theatrical productions with the help of veteran theater experts, producers, directors, and playwrights.
