In recent years, relying on its abundant ecological resources, Qujiang district in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, has developed integrated agriculture-aquaculture models, including rice-turtle farming and rice-fish farming.
In 2022, Qujiang district built an ecological rice-turtle farming park and a common prosperity workshop in Shizishan village, Dazhou town. The village is also involved in industries such as livestreaming, processing and agricultural tourism, which have provided more than 20 jobs for locals and surrounding villagers.
In 2022, Shizhishan village's collective economy increased more than 300,000 yuan ($42,075), and the per capita income of low-income farmers in the village increased by more than 20,000 yuan.
In 2022, Qujiang district built four integrated agriculture-aquaculture farms, and a batch of integrated agriculture-aquaculture models such as rice-Australian freshwater lobster farming, rice-crab farming and rice-shrimp farming have been promoted in Qujiang district.
The first fishing season began in May in the 3,000-mu (200-hectare) integrated agriculture-aquaculture bases throughout the district, with an expected average yield of more than 6,000 yuan per mu.
