The groundbreaking ceremony for the major construction projects of the Wuhan New City was held at the construction venue of the new city's civic center on June 6, attended and addressed by leaders from the Hubei and Wuhan governments.
This time, the projects launched feature large investment scales covering a range of comprehensive services, including building a civic center, an international conference and exposition center, a youth community, an optoelectronic information industrial innovation space, and two parks.
The total investment for these projects topped 30 billion yuan ($4.23 billion), with 9 billion yuan for this year.
Based on the new city, Wuhan is expected to accelerate the development of the headquarters economy, further strengthen its pillar industries, promote the convergence of sci-tech factors, achieve industry-city integration, improve the city planning, construction, and governance levels, optimize urban spaces, complete infrastructure construction, and provide more public services in education, healthcare, and commerce.
These critical projects are also necessary to press forward with the high-quality development of the Wuhan metropolitan area comprising Wuhan, Ezhou, Huangshi, and Huanggang cities.
During construction, companies and government bodies were urged at the ceremony to prioritize building quality and safe production.
